Ophthalmic Technician

Consulting Ophthalmologists, P.C. is seeking a full-time ophthalmic technician due to a new doctor joining our practice. Certification is preferred.

Candidates must be proficient in refracting, pachymetry, use of slit lamp, and accurate chart documentation of measurements, ancillary tests, and patient medical history. Experience with OCT and photography a plus. Must have the ability to interact with all patients using the level of respect and professionalism required by the practice, as well as the following:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Maintain strict patient confidentiality
• Demonstrated comprehension of the ophthalmic technician skills as outlined by the Joint Commission of Allied Health
• Personnel
• Personable, empathetic with patient, doctor and staff needs and concerns
• Ability to work as a team member
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Well-organized, with attention to detail
• Demonstrated computer literacy and good typing skills
• Medical terminology knowledge
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Ability to travel to clinic locations as needed (Farmington and Glastonbury)

Ophthalmic Writer / Scribe (Farmington / Glastonbury)

Consulting Ophthalmologists is seeking a full-time ophthalmic scribe/writer. We offer on the job training for the right candidate.

Job Responsibilities include:

• Chart documentation in an EMR alongside physician, accurately maintaining patient EMR.
• Assisting in minor ophthalmic procedures.
• Performing peripheral vision testing.
• Assisting in minor ophthalmic procedures.
• Providing written instructions and/or patient education materials, ensuring patient understands all instructions.
• Ensuring patient-flow. Requirements:
• High school diploma
• Medical Assistant background / schooling.
• Previous experience in a medical office a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; medical terminology knowledge
• Excellent spelling and keyboard skills.
• Must be able to type in a dimly-lit setting.
• Ability to travel between clinic locations (Farmington/Glastonbury)
